Ambient Occlusion - unable to turn it on

I have a model and cannot seem to turn on the Ambient Occlusion option in the style window. It shows as an option and I have another style which uses it successfully (graphics engine on and specs are compatible).

Any ideas?

Can you share the model?

Scroll the style window pallet a bit. You need to be able to see the sliders for distance and intensity and then it will turn on.

Weird Mac thing, huh?

Weird graphics thing. I noticed way back, I hardly use AO so I haven’t reported it as a bug - it’s like the hit box for the check is too small.

On Windows, the Styles panel automatically expands enough when you click the Edit tab.

Yea, it looks as though the secondary selection pane needs to be pulled down some. It’s covering the AO sliders. (We cannot have it like this on Windows/)

Thanks everyone, that’s been really helpful. Mac is a bit flakey at times with these windows, but at least I know what it is now! Just perfect for the more dreamy look I’m trying for with this garden.

Looks great!

We do have a bug report about that problem, and I added a link to this topic to give another example.

Something to know, there is a conflict between use fast feedback and antialiasing settings on Apple silicon Macs, if you use the classic graphics engine. Our work around for that is to not allow settings above 0x if you have use fast feedback turned on.

As you are back using the new graphics engine, you can set the antialiasing back to 4x. If you ever do need to use the classic graphics engine you can turn off use fast feedback to get higher antialiasing.
