Adding text to layout doc

Hello
Wonder if any one could help, having problems adding text to a layout doc.

I add text to a drawing in layout.
I leave layout and go in to SketchUp to make a change.
I return to the layout doc and the text / image has moved, I then have to start over again,
I try and lock the layer but then find I can’t write over the plan.

Any assistance would be welcomed.

It would be helpful if you share a LayOut file in which this happens.

Are you creating scenes in SketchUp for the views of your model in LayOut? Are you modifying those views in LayOut?

Hi
I will try and capture when it happens,
I come out of layout-make changes-then back into layout?

Are you creating scenes in SketchUp to use in LayOut?

Share the file you’ve got. Maybe we can sort it out for you right away.

Are you following this routine:

  1. Create scene in SU.

  2. Send to Layout

  3. Change something in SU.

  4. Update scene

  5. Save file

  6. Update reference file in LO

And never opening the viewport in LO?

Hi
I’m not creating scenes on a floor plan, would you recommend?

Clinton

I don’t understand the question.

If you aren’t creating scenes in SketchUp to use for the viewports in LayOut, the viewports are set up to use the Last saved SketchUp view. When you go back to SketchUp to make an edit you invariably change the view by orbiting, panning, or zooming. When you update the reference in LayOut, it updates to reflect the view as it was last saved in the SketchUp file. It’s no wonder your model is moving under the dimensions and labels.

So yes, absolutely I would recommend that you create scenes in SketchUp to use for the viewports in LayOut. That’s the way it’s supposed to be done.

Thank you, I have been using sketch up for say 5 years and never realized
Thanks once again

Clinton

You’re welcome.
