In the new version (2024), when you take a screenshot with the “capture region” function (or window function), the frame is wider than the older version.
Maybe its because the color of the palette or is slightly lighter and now there is no more differentiation (same colors) between the modele and the palette and the screenshot app doesn’t recognize it?
Maybe just a thin line darker along the edges of the palettes will solve that?
No i’m using a different app, but I’ve tried with this tool and the problem is the same. I’ve tried different apps and the results is still the same…
In previous versions, when taking a screenshot with the “capture window” function, the tool palette acted as a border (only the model image captured). With the new version 2024, the tool palette no longer acts as such (model image + tool palette up and right).
In my work we use SketchUp to make shadows study so we have to superpose several picture in photoshop. So if I take the snipping tool, the pictures will not be exactly the same so it will take time to adjust. The oldest version of SketchUp was better for this.
There is and has never been such tool inside SketchUp so you must be using some other screen capture function, either built in into Windows or a third party application.
SketchUp has switched to a newer and faster screen rendering tool - this might be a downside to it if your screen capturing is no longer able to detect boundaries inside the SketchUp application window. As @TazSavage says, you can use the Export>2D Graphic function instead.
There are a lot of free and paid screenshot tools available, some of them already mentioned in this thread. I use Greenshot that also has a rudimentary image editing and annotating function, and I have set it to pop up when I press the PrtSc key on my keyboard.
If you use the Export 2D Graphic function you can set it to use your screen resolution and use compression so it wouldn’t be “heavier” than a screenshot.
Hello Anssi,
Thanks for your answer. yes I’ve tried several screenshot tools to fix the issue, but it work not as well as before. There is question of rentability here. We use it in a professional goal and have to produce many images. So if i have to edit the image, setting some parameters then take a screenshort, it lengthen the process. Because we have a lot of images we lose productivity.
