A little help with push pull please :)

Hi gang, I was hoping someone could give me a hand. I am making a bed with a headboard post that will have a round top and the whole post will be slightly angled back. I have attached a screenshot of what I am trying to do. I have the fredo joint push pull and watched a few videos but still cant quite seem to get it.

Thank you and I have a feeling its probably a pretty basic thing to do

Share the .skp file.

Vector Push/Pull would probably work but the native Push/Pull won’t do what you want because it only works perpendicular to the face your arc is on.

If I were doing something like that I would draw a cutter volume with a cove shape and use it with Eneroth Solid Tools or BoolTools2 to cut the radius on the top of the part.

And, of course, the native Substract tool also works but you have to create your component (if you have more than one of these pieces) afterwards.

Yes. the native Subtract will work but creates more work after that operation.

Thanks guys! Here is the file.

Since you already have the arc drawn in the group, Vector Push/Pull will take care of it.

Hi Dave, sorry to bother you, I just tried it again with another post I am trying this on and I think I am missing something? I followed your video tutorial and just don’t quite have it.

I attached screen shot with what happens. I hope this makes sense?

Should I attach the file again?

Thank you

Jay

Looks to me as if while selecting edges to delete you selected one or two edges from the arc that you need to keep and maybe you selected and deleted the curved surface, too.

Start again but before starting to select and delete edges, switch to the X-ray face style so you can see what’s getting selected and ensure you don’t select anything that you need to keep.

Geesh! Thanks Dave, that’s exactly what I did wrong. Got it now
Thanks again!!
