3d dwg file converts to 2d lines

I received a 3d model in DWG file. (structural framing model: joists and studs)
I imported it into SKETCHUP.

My question is:
What’s the quickest way to convert this 3d DWG file into 2d DWG file?

In other words, when I look at it from the plan view, these joists and studs will become 2d lines instead of 3d model?

The reason I want to do this is to make the file size smaller if I just need to see this in plan view to do the 2d overlay.

Thanks.

What version of SketchUp are you really using? Your forum profile makes no sense. There is no Free (web) version 2018. The free web version does not have any facility to import .dwg files. The answer to your question depends on the version you are using.

Sketchup Pro 2023

Fix your forum profile.

And in answer to your question, set up a scene with the camera set to Parallel Projection and the appropriate standard view. Then either export the .dwg from SketchUp or send it to LayOut and set up there. Then export the 2D .dwg.

Are you using windows 7 with a GTX 970?

I’m gobsmacked, as they say in the UK. What incredible gifts of deduction did you use to work that out. Far beyond me
