2024 export animation bugs

I logged a bug report for the problem, with Dave’s file. I will add your file as another example. It will get fixed, but I’m not sure when. We have a few other urgent things to fix first.

I’m hoping to find out what the problem is, to at least suggest a work around for now.

Thanks for all your help.

@colin - just double checking, was missing section fill included in the initial bug report?

At the moment I only wrote that there were artifacts. The general case seems to be that things that should be hidden are being seen in the foreground. For Dave that’s shadows, for this case it’s hidden object grids, and seeing behind the section fill. I think it will be one issue, and the variations should clear up with one fix.

And the “moving” geometry.

I, also, am seeing fills not filling and hidden objects being showed when exporting standalone images or exporting animation of scenes.

The scenes in viewport are normal/correct.
using win10, SKP 24.

I also have the very same problem. I’m on HP Elitebook laptop with Win10.
Video generated using file>export>animation are now terrible : scenes are not updated, Xray shows only wireframe, … Well, very bogus.
I used the purge button to clean the project, and I strongly suspect that some styles were deleted where they shouldn’t have been.

I installed 2024 today (06/06). I’ve encountered the same problem as above. Hidden objects are appearing as mesh/view hidden object style in some scenes. This is happening with different style settings.

You’ll have to use 2023 until they release a patch.

Ok. Thanks. I was partly posting to confirm that, since its a been a month since the last post on this thread.

Man I just downloaded 2024 today because I had an important animation to get out and was going to try the new ‘Ambient Occlusion’ setting. I went through all the bs of reinstalling extensions, setting my trays, transferring templates etc. Modelled all day and now its 2am in the morning and I cant even use it to export the F-ing animation. Also found the model space more laggy and it would glitch to a weird ‘small window’ view of the model momentarily while trying to rotate.

I opened and saved with 2023 version as suggested. I got one export out. Realised I needed to make some changes. Without thinking I opened the file directly from its folder location in explorer, which opened the file with 2024 instead of 2023. I made the changes to the file before realisisng what version I was in and tried to export. It crashed and then I twigged I was in 2024. I opened and resaved with 2023, but now every animation export attempt out of 2023 crashes. :confounded:

I know this is now trending towards technical support but thought it was still relevant to the bug diagnosis of this thread.

goodnight

Just a thought for desperate work around if it’s just hidden things showing:

  • Do Save As… A copy,
  • in the duplicate file delete the hidden stuff
  • produce the animation
  • Delete the file after getting your results

Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum, so wasn’t sure if I should post on this thread.
Or should I start a new query?

As I am also having an issue with animation export in SketchUp 2024.
Which when I use 2023 it is exporting just fine.

I have checked the settings in 2024 and all seem to be the same compared to 2023.
When I play the animation in SketchUp it runs the scenes just fine, however, when I export and open in media player I am getting the image from Scene 1, moving in transition, as if between the proceeding scenes, but the images don’t update through the other details, just the detail from scene 1 moving around on its own!!
I have purged the model, and I have checked “Include in animation box” but the resolution eludes me.

Your consideration is greatly appreciated.

regards

John

The developers are on the case but a fix has yet to be released. At this point your best bet is to open the file in SU 2023 and export the animation from there.

Yes I am having the same issue.

Copying to 2023 has been a workaround but obviously costly, time-wise and not sustainable.

hopefully soon!

copying ?

just right click on your file, and open in 23. and export all you’ve prepared. it adds… a minute maybe ? just the time to close the file and reopen it using right click ?

I’m still experiencing major problems with exporting animations.

In what version of SketchUp? What graphics card. Please put the correct information in your forum profile.

If you’re using SketchUp 2024, the fix hasn’t been released yet.

I updated my graphic card driver and the problem still persist .

is this the right settings

As I wrote 4 hours ago:

Updating your graphics card drivers won’t have any impact.

Fix your forum profile to show the correct version of SketchUp, operating system, and graphics card.
