I’ve been doing some research trying to find what extensions would help me the best with what I am doing. The Wudworx extension collection looks really interesting to me. Can’t find much information out there about it, my question is will it work with SU2025, everything I read on the website just says older versions.
Also, any other extensions you’d recommend for somebody doing woodshop projects. from furniture, cabinets to full house remodels?
The Wudworx extensions work just fine in SketchUP 2025. The author has a disclaimer on his website because he has not personally been able to test them in newer versions. I’ve used them in every version of SketchUp since they were iniitially released and have never had an issue.
I mostly use the Dovetail and Drill tools and have never found anything that does exactly the same thing. There is another Dovetail extension out there somewhere. I can’t remember the name off the top of my head but it doesn’t work as well as the Wudworx extension.
You can contact the author via his website. He’s a very busy guy but he will get back to you.
Awesome, I’ll look into downloading them and seeing what I can figure out. I’ll message him if need be, thanks for the information and the speedy response!
He’ll send you either the files or the link to them after he gets payment.
FWIW, here’s a quickie video showing how I model a dovetailed drawer. As you can see the tool will model both pins and tails but I tend to model half the joint and then use Trim from either Eneroth Solid Tools or Bool Tools 2 to trim the other side. (The native Solid Tools don’t respect the “component-ness” of components and wind up creating more work than using the other two.
Thanks a bunch for all the help. Got an email send out to the creator, looking forward to giving the tools a try.
The video you shared of the Dovetail Drawer Box was a great explanation. I’m not exactly sure how you used the trim function to model the other side like that. But I’m definitely going to look into that and those other extensions you mentioned. Looks like something that would really speed up my workflow if I learn. I’m assuming the same type of thing would work on a dado type joint as well?
Almost more interested in that than the tools themselves haha.
The drawer sides are instances of the same component so editing one makes the same changes in the other. In this case that did require the use of either of the solid tool extensions I mentioned. Trim in the native Solid Tools would convert the modified drawer side component to a group and leave the other untouched.
Yes. Although you can’t see it well in the video, when I used the drawer bottom to cut the grooves in the sides and the drawer front, both sides got cut in one step.
BTW, I have a keyboard shortcut for the Trim tool I used.
It’s kind of too bad that you have to handle both drawer sides to cut the dovetails and grooves in the shop.
This was helpful for me. Very easy to get get the plug-in once you contact the developer and waited a few days for response. Paid 30$ and easily imported into 2026 Pro. Thanks!
