Working in 2D house design

Having trouble in adding colour to components in a house design, on one layer…any ideas would be greatly appreciated
.

Components show painted color unless geometry inside has already been painted.
Make this geometry default again in editing context.

And be sure that the model is displayed in ‘Shaded (with Texture)’ face style.
