Working from Home (Quarantine Times)

Wow! I’m new to the forum, but it’s cool to see how your work places are maded. Personally, I want to return to the office completely, I’m more comfortable working there.

I also have registered on this forum recently. I look at photos of some people’s work places and want something similar for me. However, now there is a mass vaccination and we will soon return to the offices. I’m waiting for this moment because I want some variety. Although it seems to me that we will still be forced to wear masks. I don’t like them very much, but I still have to wear it. My friend recommended me to go to masterbundles.com and choose beautiful masks with an original design. I have already ordered some interesting options for different occasions. In this way I diversify my wardrobe and lift the spirits of other people. I recommend you take a look at this resource!

Yea I can see the shift back to offices coming sooner than later. Managers want to see people so they feel like they can 'manage" them. I still think it should be up to the individual and in reality it kind of is. You can “choose” weather you want to continue on where you are at or move on to someone who is more embracing of the “work from home” model. There are always going to be people who abuse either model because it’s just in some people’s nature. Others embrace accountability and relish the challenge and level of self discipline it takes to get the job done. I know I have flourished as a 3D modeler and have in no way “plateaued”, which is what I was doing when strapped to my desk at my job. I never had a moments rest to get some schooling here on the forum or by watching video tutorials. I guess the bosses thought we were all watching “cat videos” on YouTube and not instructional videos.

But to my point of choices…you will always have the choice of who you work for so if your boss is taking away your choice of working from home and you feel safer or just better about your job then it’s time to look elsewhere for an employer who better fits your lifestyle…I know I am…I love what I do…just not who I work for…might be time for me to move on…

A wise man told me once that "The more you concentrate on what you had…the longer you suffer…the sooner you accept your new circumstances…the sooner your joy returns to you…

I should say, your working places look awesome, especially those on the yard and a boat. Like a dream :slightly_smiling_face: I worked in a small room with two kids at home on the quarantine, so I’m glad I can work at the office again

Just an update as we are back in lockdown here. I installed a webcam on one of my printers so I can keep an eye on it from downstairs. I can see the screen for how the time is going, the print itself and I can check the weather.

12 posts were split to a new topic: Help! My model is too bloated to use!

I just thought some might appreciate seeing the setup I have for my stained glass work on my boat. Just starting the leading of a rather complex piece. The Storm. The black and white ‘cartoon’ is lying on it’s side, the correct orientation is vertical as it is a door panel.

I can see why you are (/need to) living (live) on a multihull.
+1 for the windows-IP

Love the adjustable height worktable. Is the base an old Barber’s Chair?
It’ll be a gorgeous door when finished, Pictures please.

It is actually the base of a dentist chair. I have quite a history with it. It is one of three from my father’s dental practice. My brothers and I moved all three, when we were teenager, from his original practice above a hardware store to a house he bought for the practice. They were incredibly heavy and awkward to move down several flights of narrow stairs. Dad built a sort of timber cradle, something like a Sudan chair, so we could all grab a corner. Then when he retired, quite young, and sold the practice the new guy obviously wanted to replace most of his ‘ancient’ equipment with all new bells and whistles, so he kept one. He used it for the next 30 years as a small workbench making all sorts of jewellery, and assorted projects. He was quite prolific in the art/craft world. With his death it came to me, along with a vast array of assorted tools and junk. I re-engineered it to take the large benchtop and put the wheels on it. It’s an invaluable part of my workspace. It can lift hundreds of kilos and spin 360deg effortlessly with one finger.
I think I’m rambling again.

A connection to the past, it makes the table that much more special. Thanks for the ramble.

This is getting pretty off topic now, but here’s a work in progress shot. I’m taking my time over this one and fitting it in around other work.

A little easier to view.

Absolutely love it. It’s also insightful to understanding what you do inside SketchUp by knowing where your head is at working outside of SketchUp.

It must be great to use the hands instead of the mouse from time to time…

I really don’t want to go so far off topic but since we are here already and the quarantine is kinda gone, this is the bottom section as far as the first straight line, the joiner, up to the light.
