Wondering how to attach all the material as a group just like 3Dmax?

Hi there guys, I was wondering how to attach/ group all the same material during cleaning the SU model? Firstly I know that using select>select same material. Then group together, but if turns to heavy model like those condo which in a component have around 10 nested object and I need to explode all to select the same material and it will takes a lot of time to explode and grouping. Especially it will make the file heavier after explode.

By the way I tried to use the TIG material plugin but it only display on the default tray only and cant select all same material for me to group.

So, do SU have any plugin or way to select the same material including the one which inside the components and group by material?

You cannot group or even select a material. What you can do is select all faces with the same material and group those faces…

No sense to group by material. Just turn repetitive geo to components.

You can’t do it just like you do in Max.
Your best option is probably Thrupaint which allows you to paint all connected faces at once. It also works through nested groups without having to navigate all the hierarchy to open them.
It can also do a lot more.
