I bought the annual subscription in late 2024, and have been using the 2024 version. Lately the app ask me to update to the 2025 version. So if I have an active subscription does that mean I can freely use the new version?
And if it possible to just use both the 2024 version and 2025 version on the same PC?
I’m looking for the details online, preferably some official notes (like the terms and conditions) from the company/devs but I couldn’t find any.
Yes, you can download, install and use without having to pay extra for sketchup 2025, you don’t need to uninstall sketchup 2024, it is possible to use up to two instances of sketchup at the same time it doesn’t matter if it’s on the same or a different pc, I use sketchup on Mac and pc with just one subscription of sketchup studio.
I would actually recommend you to not uninstall sketchup 2024 until you feel fully comfortable with sketchup 2025.
With the release of sketchup 2025 was also released a plugin that you can install once you’ve installed sketchup 2025, it’s called migration extension, it makes a lot easier to install all the plugins you had on previous versions, you don’t need to download them one by one or using sketchucation tools to be able to have them on newer versions, however, that plugin has caused some issues to some users, me included, provoking crashes just by opening the software, I suggest you to install all the plugins and immediately uninstall the extension migration plugin.
yeah, when you have an active subscription, you’re free to use sketchup 2019 and more recent.
only the last 2 versions (as of today, 23 - 24 - 25) are officially supported and available to download.

it’s not adobe, they won’t sue you for using an older version of photoshop. you might make the devs a bit sad because you don’t play with their toys, but that’s all.
your subscription allows you to either activate sketchup on two machines or to activate two versions on one machine.
you can have sketchup 2024 and 2025 installed, and use either. or both.
(I currently have 4 sketchup installed on my mac, 2 on my pc)
Yes, that’s the whole idea behind the subscription model.
I checked on https://help.sketchup.com/en/admin/subscriptions and was surprised to see that we never explicitly state anywhere that a subscription gives you the right to use any version of the product that you have paid for.
Probably the closest you can get to officially confirming this is opening the Trimble Account management portal, and there it will show the products you have access to, and note that we don’t put version numbers there, implying you can use any version (since the subscription model started)
As @ateliernab pointed out, we don’t block or disallow older versions from being used, but because we don’t support them you won’t be able to access web services directly from them (e.g. extension warehouse, 3D warehouse, add location).
