Windows 11

I was told way back to stick with windows 10 and not upgrade to windows 11

Microsoft is no longer supporting windows 10 and was wondering if upgrading to windows 11 will it affect Sketchup’s performance.

I don’t think you’ll have any problems with Windows 11.

Are you still using SketchUp 2022?

Thanks for the response Dave.

I am using Sketchup 2025.

Update your forum profile, then.

Windows 11 uses much more ram idly. So that’s what you’re going to check on your computer before upgrading. If you only have 8gb, you might run into issues if working on big models.

I think Microsoft is being very restrictive about the upgrade, so it should state something if your computer was not capable enough, I guess you can go on if it is not saying so

I think, the only requirement was that your machine supported TPM 2.0 - which is a hardware security feature.
You can disable the warnings and install it without I believe - it would still be more secure than win10

Indeed! Win 11 Pro has been rock solid. The best OS I’ve ever used.

What cpu does your machine has? If you have an intel 12th gen or above, you´ll notice better performance, cause win 11 is optimized to run simple tasks using the efficient cores and use the powerful cores for heavy tasks, Win 11 cant make that distinction so the performance could be inconsistent depending on what cores it decides to use and you could be using an efficient core for a heavy task like sketchup, sketchup is still able to run on low end machines so using a low powered core won’t make sketchup crash, but you could have issues with big models sometimes and other times the same file could be running fine. My civil engineer brother refused to change to mac or update to windows 11 having an hybrid architecture cpu, and he was getting crazy because of this inconsistent that win 10 can´t handle, I also didn’t know what was the issue until he updated to win 11 and hasn’t had any issues since then

I updated and increased the size of my CPU last year so that should not be an issue.

Thanks everyone for your input and advice. Much appreciated.
