Hi guys! Does anyone know where the dripper tool is in sketchuo 2024 for Mac? I just bought a Macbook and I can’t find that tool, since it’s important for me to find each of the materials I want to find from my scene in the Vray… I hope someone can solve this problem that has me crazy. Thank you!
In more than twenty years of using SketchUp I’ve never heard of a “dripper tool” in it. What exactly are you trying to do?
I expect that you mean the “eyedropper” tool to sample a SketchUp material in the model.
Because the SketchUp Materials editor on Mac was patched atop the macOS color chooser, it has some subtle peculiarities. It is still integrated into the macOS color choosing system. That’s why it says “Colors” at the top of the window, not “Materials”.
Among these is that the tool activated by the little eyedropper icon at the bottom of the SketchUp materials window is the macOS pixel color sampler. When you click that icon the cursor changes to a sort of magnifier circle. When you click, it adds the color of the clicked screen pixel to the palette of colors at the bottom of the window - regardless of where on the entire screen that pixel lies. It has no concept of SketchUp materials.
To sample a SketchUp material in the model, you activate the paint bucket tool and then tap the control key. The cursor changes from the bucket to an eyedropper, and then clicks will sample the SketchUp material under the cursor. Just to compound the confusion, it will add that material to the color palette at the bottom of the colors window and make it the active material for the paint bucket tool.
OMG!!! It works!!! Thank you veryyy much!! You’re a genius!
