When using Move Tool, make default to NOT show “Red-X” component grips

In SketchUp, when using the Move tool for a Component…. currently the “Red-X” Component grips (which shortcut to Component rotation) take priority over simple midpoint grips/snapping points. Especially for smaller components, it makes it hard to snap how I want. Could these “Red-X” grips not pop up/prioritize by default, but ONLY be activated by pressing an additional key to toggle grip settings? Or press a keystroke to toggle these “Red-X” to OFF (a similar function was recently added in Layout to hide the “grip origin”, by striking the Command key on a Mac). Or simply let users rely on using the regular Rotate Tool to rotate a component like we do for every other object.

You can turn off the rotation handles for the Move tool in Preferences.

And you can set a keyboard shortcut for it if you want.

You can hide the grips if you don’t use them

Brilliant, thank you!

I really seldom use the rotate tool. the ability to make everything with the move tool is pretty great…
