I lost a whole days work yesterday, as I rotated the model some invisible plane sliced into it and eventually all disappeared ?
It’s your workflow. You have a ton of reversed faces, and probably something thousands of feet away that you’re not aware of. Hit Control+Shift E, Zoom extents. to see if that helps.

Your model is not lost. You are seeing Clipping, search the forum for that word to discover some common causes. Change your camera setting to perspective and then zoom extents as advised, usually the culprit is some piece of geometry or label that is very very far from the origin. Use parallel projection for outputting images, not for modeling.
