In Norway you find a mix of patronyms and last names based on land marks and professions.
This had me thinking, in regard to names based on professions, like Fletcher, Thatcher, Carter, Schumacher etc⊠what if - we had modern variants of these?
Mine might perhaps be:
Thomas Softwaremaker
Thomas Keytapper
Thomas Bugsplatter
What would your âmodernâ name be based on your current profession?
Mine (âMoelâ) originated as an amount of water being dregded up by windmills in the early days of âimpolderingâ or land exclamation in the Netherlands.
My oldest ancestor received his name back in 1609 or so.
He had a windmill somewhere in alcmaere region.
I have added a â3â in the middle, MO3EL which stands for âmore 3(d) modelsâ
Me too. Director of Photography. Lighting is by far the biggest part of that. The very conventional David Lightman would work. Wonder if that name has its origin in the old lamp lighters?
My motherâs maiden name was Zimmerman which means (or used to mean??) Carpenter in German/Swiss. When some of my ancestors came to America they kept the Zimmerman name and others went with Carpenter. Thatâs pretty close to describing my occupation 400 years later.
