Bonjour!
Je me pr&sente,
Mon prénom est Patrick, je suis retraité et ferru de bricolages en tout genre. Je suis Belge.
Bien que je connais plusieurs logiciels de dessin et retouches photo, Sketchup pourait m’intérresser.
Patrick
My name is Bill Grubish. I nearly failed to graduate high school. I worked as a draftsman from 1965 till 2009 and am now retired.
Engineers on my first job had pitty on me and taught me the basics of structural design. Spent a few years in between, estimating for sales.
Transitioned from dwg board to PC and Autocad in '94; discovered SU in 2010. I’ve been drawing since I was 11 years old and am delighted with SU. But for me, SU is a toy to pass the time.

WELCOME TO THE SKETCHUP COMMUNITY FORUMS
There are so many awesome SketchUpers on this forum that we think it’s important to create a space for you to share a little more about who you are and all the cool things you - yes you - are up to!
Some questions you may answer to get your juices flowing…feel free to really add anything you would like to - as it relates to this thread!
My name is Phil and one of my hobbies is building wood toys (from whirligig to Leonardo Da Vinci model (hydraulic saw for instance)
I’m a project manager in IT,
Where do you use SketchUp? Personally/professionally?
I use scketchup for my personal project
I create pictures of my future wood toys (a 3D view to preview the final result and 2D view to print blueprint ready to be cut)
as I use every week, I can say: intermediate level
I work very often with a DELL LAPTOP (easy to move from house to the garage ) with SU Make 2015
I like to discover the plugin and the softwares around SU (yesterday I tried LumenRT … very impressive)
Now, I would like to master the sketchy physics in order to animate the whirligig toys that I prepare (for the winter)
Do you enjoy long walks on the beach…? well, I live in Belgium in North sea (200 meters of the beach )

Hi, my name is Lauriann. I am currently not working or going to school. I was a premed student, but have taken time off to work on some health issues. I am interested in creating a garden pool (like this guy did—> http://gardenpool.org) I have a 26k gal empty swimming pool and want to create an aquaponics ecosystem in it. I have ducks and want to get fish and raise fruits/veggies/herbs organically. I have no idea what I am doing - yet, but hope that I can find help here. My computer is a Mac OS 10.9.5 and I just downloaded Sketchup today and have a 30 free trial of the pro version. I am not exactly what you would call completely computer literate, but I have time to figure things out. Oh, so, I live in Las Vegas (its HOT AND humid right now 108F/42.2C). I have 7 ducks…Leonard, Penny, Bernadette, Amy, Leia, Fantine, and Roselind. I want to make them happy ducks with a big(ger) pond. Thanks in advance for help and friendship
Not sure if this is the “introduce myself window”, or if this is meant to provide comments about the introduce yourself discussion. I’ll probably skip this, since where I click to do the introduction isn’t obvious.

This is exactly where you post your “Introduction”. Look at the posts above and follow their example. There is no separate place to “click” to open any separate window or form.
Hi
Of course, got this the wrong way round. Ask a question, then introduce myself! Following the friendly example below I’ve answered some of the prompting questions:
Who: AJ Malone, Anthony
Where: Lecturer in CAAD and Studio for the Architecture programmes at Liverpool John Moores University
What: I use SketchUp in my teaching and most parts my design thinking.
Why: Elegant simplicity in concept; low level of prior knowledge and expertise to achieve results. Impressive sophistication and organisation possible. Open ecosystem resulting in so much additional functionality.
Why2: Freedom: design decisions can be sequenced in the process to avoid slowing creativity.
How good: quite good, but no medals.
GeekSpec: Win7 64bit/Core i7/8Gb/GeForce 440 Ti, and a few others.
Life: Architecture/Design/Art/Football (Everton, NOT Liverpool!)/Cats/Gardening-Cultivating (new to)
I am Joseph. I use Sketchup during my free time. I’m not very experienced as now. – Looking to get better.
Who are you, who, who? (show us those pearly whites smiley) … My name is Owen
What is your industry and profession? … I am an IT Consulting Partner in a Small Regional Business in South Africa and Zimbabwe
Where do you use SketchUp? Personally/professionally? … Only just found out about it while looking for possible solutions for my clients in the construction space. Looked like I could also make use of it or my personal projects.
Why do you use SketchUp and what is your favorite thing about it? (Besides using it to impress the babes…) … TBA
How proficient are you in SketchUp? Beginner, intermediate, advanced? … Beginner
What is your current set up? Computer type, SketchUp version…etc. (Your lake house and Ferrari don’t count) … Multiple Operating Environments
Do you have a 3DW page with your models, Extensions, or a website you would like to link to or show off to us? … I have some basic diagrams for a project I wish to develop and make bankable to investors.
Anything else you would like to tell us? (e.g., you once saw a UFO & tried to model it in SketchUp to get a prototype 3D printed…) … Yep, incidentally I have recently seen a UFO, it turned out to be life in general. Can be tough but certainly worth living. So much to do
What is your favorite Emoji?
Do you enjoy long walks on the beach…? … Oh yes, when I am near one. For now other activities work just fine, like walk in my neighborhood park
Steve Ellison- Architectural, wayfinding and visual communication design consultant, Atlanta. I use SU as a design development and presentation tool. I also enjoy just messing around with it. Great tool for concept visualization and design development. I’ve been hitting at SU for a few years, but I’m still what I’d define as an “advanced beginner”.
Noob home designing sketchup user with a space navigator
-My name is Van Lewis.
-I am an architect.
-I have used SU for years as a design tool, but now I need to use it to produce construction drawings and I am finding this extremely challenging, as in: cannot make LayOut do anything I want it to. I would rate myself as a reluctant mid-level SU user, and as a Cubscout LayOut user.
-I am on Windows 8, very nice new laptop setup optimized for SU.
-Happy to be on this forum because, as a rule, I never find the answers I’m looking for in Help.
Have you ever seen the videos of Nick Sonder, California Architect, on how he uses Layout and the beautiful construction drawings he produces. There are six videos.
Thanks! Yes, I watched those… I think he assumes his viewers have a bit more Layout experience than I do, because I keep losing him along the way and getting different results. Resolution in Layout is so bad I can’t see what I’m doing. Just added a new topic on this.
I moved a post to a new topic: Having trouble with the latter as the RubyTMIX website
Name: Kit
Industry: industrial design
Use: both professional and personal
Favorite thing about SketchUp: Easy to learn the basics
Proficiency: Beginner
Currently using: A Lenovo laptop with an AMD A10 sticker on it (?). But trying to research a SketchUp optimized machine.
I’ve got some stuff up on GrabCAD (mostly fiddly motorcycle parts modeled in Pro Engineer) Look for user Kit Headley. Don’t have anything worth putting into the 3DW yet, but I’m sure that will change.
Right now I’m working on a version of my dream house and a project for a client. I’ve hit significant snags that have halted progress on both (need to lathe cut a profile on one and push my interior walls to meet a slanted roof on the other)
I like to cheat emojis such as: (:
I prefer long walks on the lake with a paddle board.

Hello, I’m new to the Forum, so this is me:
Professional 3D Artist and trainer. Using Sketchup for years but not tried developing Sk until now.
I’m based in the UK and mainly work in England / Scotland.
I trained as an Architect and Interior Designer and moved over to Sk as I saw its benefits.
I’m here looking for friends of the same professional mind …
Hi, My name is Heinz Stapff and I run a small architectural drawing service out of Riberas del Pilar, Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico. Online Architectural Technology. I spent most of my life drawing plans for Architects, Engineers and Personal Clients in my country Bermuda. I have been using AutoCAD from Autodesk since 486 computers.
Jason Mills of E-sun Mexico reminded me that SketchUp was a great cad system and that many of the Mexican people prefer it to AutoCAD. Licensing is far cheaper and the warehouse provides amazing images to download and enhance 3D models very quickly. He also said it would be easy for me to grasp. He was right.
I’m a CAD junky for sure, Now that most Architects are asking their draught persons for SketchUp skills, I am eager to punch out a few 3D models to post on Linked-in, Google+ and Facebook.
With that in mind I downloaded a 30 day trial of SketchUp 2015 and was well on the way to my first model when the interface started jumping around. I lost the initial default tray and every time I use zoom or orbit or any of the camera tools, the image disappears completely and I have to hit previous view to get it back.
To no avail though, because every time I click my Perfect Choice wireless mouse on any of the camera tools, all of the images I imported jump of the screen.
My system is an ATX full WIN 8.1 OS. and an onboard Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600. Do not laugh, it works great in AutoCAD 2013 even in realistic presentation mode. My posts on the afore mentioned sites demonstrate that.
I just did a reinstall and was grateful that the trial was still allowed but it didn’t fix the issues. I will try repair next but any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. The model is off 3.000 sft. 4 bedroom house that I’d like to impress my client with.
With that in mind
