Web login issues from ChromeOS

Hi

We’re having an issue logging into sketchup education. It’s installed on the domain by the workspace admin, when a student clicks on the link from the waffle menu for sketchup and chooses sign in with google, it goes through as expected, the popup comes up to click on the google account. It contines to load, then the popup comes back so they click on the google account again. It seems to be loading with the rotating logo, then you just a box that says something went wrong, please try again later. Has anyone comes across this before?

Hi @jaimie , thanks for the post and sorry to hear that you are having difficulty with SketchUp for Schools. It sounds like it could be a number of different things going wrong but it is a good sign that you are getting the login popup. That still points me to too many potential issues to answer what is wrong though so we will need to narrow it down before I can say for sure what the answer is.

Thankfully we have a solution for that. Can you open the app in Chrome with the developer mode console enabled and share a screenshot of the console with me when the error shows up? Also, can you confirm that the app was deployed via a super admin? Knowing this will help narrow down the potential cause.

Hi

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, a super admin (me) did deploy the app. Sorry for the delay I had to enable developer tools on the chromebooks first. Screenshots attached.

Thanks for your help, it will only let me embed one image, I have 4 to cover everything if you need anymore.

Thanks @jaimie, that is good, but can you grab a screenshot of the console tab in developer mode too? That one is the most helpful for diagnosis of errors.

Here you go

Any thoughts?

Very curious, I am checking a few things on our end and will let you know what I find as soon as I have anything. In the meantime, can you let me know if it is domain wide or if it is seemingly random users? Can you also confirm that you have allowed popups and cookies for our site?

Hi again @jaimie, I just heard back from some of the team and it would be helpful if we could get a screenshot of the network tab of the console when you have a minute. That will help us narrow down the error a bit faster. Hopefully we are getting close!

Thanks. Yes it’s domain wide but occasionally one can get in no problem but it’s literally just one. Popups enabled and cookies are yes. I’ll grab a chromebook in a minute and upload the network tab

Thanks for the posts @jaimie. I will get this sent over to the right team right now so we can find out what we need to do to get this fixed. It is still early in the morning at the office so it may be a while before the rest of the team gets signed on and finished with morning meetings, but rest assured will get them working on this ASAP!

Hey @jaimie has it worked for you in the past and does it give the same error for all students and teachers? If so, do you know if your school has enabled a web filter or web security tool like GoGaurdian? The error is indicating it can’t download the main file that runs the 3D engine. Not sure why it would be blocked but its failing to download it for some reason. We are not able to reproduce the issue on our end.

Yes we have a smoothwall in place for web filtering. Is there a URL that is preventing it from downloading? If so I can ask IT to unblock it.

Thanks

It seems only to be ChromeOS. I’ve just tried on a windows device and it went straight through

If you right click the red webapp_gl2_4gb.wasm file and choose copy URL

You can see the URL of the file that is trying to load

You could even paste that directly into the address bar and see if it downloads.

Is there perhaps some kind of security extension that you only use in Chrome? I can see a few extensions running along the top there.

That loads for me here - that looks like something is being blocked for you

What about the non edu one?

Looks like you have to contact you IS/IT admin to see if they are filtering/blocking this call
