Web free version questions

I clicked Unhide All under display menu. All the hidden lines showing up. I can’t hide them all again by clicking the same icon. What should I do?
Another issue is there are some furnitures showing up which I think I deleted already but when I tried to select them again, they can never be selected. They are like ghosts. Is there anything to do with my computer graphic card? Please help!

This is perfectly fine. The icon you click on will execute the “Unhide All” command. Once you unhide everything, you can’t unhide it any more. The command is not “Toggle-hide” but “Unhide All”.

If you want to hide the lines, you have to select them and right-click on one of them and choose the “hide” command from the context menu.

Try to click and drag to make a temporary selection box around the items you want to select. When you click and drag to the left, anything completely or partially inside the box becomes selected.

I knew this select method but they act like they are not really exist. Only sometimes showing there but not really.

This is nightmare! My whole house were hidden lines one by one like taking me two years. Now one click, I have to start all over again?

For future use, the settings “Show hidden geometry” and “Show hidden objects” are toggles that can be turned on or off, they don’t affect the actual hidden status of objects.

You can post your model for suggestions about what to do.

I knew these. The problem is how to hide all again after I clicked Unhide All. All of the lines showing up in my whole house including the lines were hidden in the furnitures and house exterior. They are full lines not dotted lines. Please don’t tell me I have to hide them one by one again. :face_holding_back_tears::face_holding_back_tears::face_holding_back_tears:

You could check if Trimble Connect has saved an earlier version of your file that you can revert to. I don’t know how it works with the Free version users.

I downloaded a file one month ago. But still I need to re do lots of work. :smiling_face_with_tear: I cannot believe it’s really so. One click and ruin everything?

This means that you are not using the software properly. Hiding basic geometries (lines, faces) is a bad practice.

Hiding the component/group in the free version is not recommended either because there is no Outliner where you can toggle visibility.

Learn to use components and groups in which you draw the basic geometries (lines, faces). You can assign Tags to these components and/or groups and you can easily control their visibility by the assigned Tags.

Take your time, and follow the links in my previous post.

Like @dezmo recommends, take some time to learn how to use SketchUp correctly. Evidently this is a hobby thing for you. It should be enjoyable. Like any other hobby, it’s easier and more fun when you learn to use the tools right.

Clicking “Undo” works for me to hide them all again (even after save). If you closed the app then the undo history is lost.

I think that this is because they are interacting with your other geometry because even though they are hidden they still exist! Using groups (or componets) as @dezmo suggested will also avoid this.

Yes, still lots of to learn. I really appreciate that there is such an amazing tool for us to use and even for free. But is there anyone can help to resolve this issue. You can see from the screenshot. The left side house has all the lines visible. I imported the file which I haven’t messed around yet one month ago and moving all the interior parts to that house now which I have done for one month. Simply, how to go back if I clicked “unhide all” by mistake. And go back :leftwards_arrow_with_hook: doesn’t work anymore.

It’s not clear what you want. Do you want the edges to all be hidden? Or unhidden?

Is this your house that you are modeling?

I want to hide all the lines.

You can use a style that has all edges and profiles set to invisible.

Then you could go to Styles, and edit your style to NOT show (all) edges, and (optionally) not show Profile edges either.

[Anssi got there first, as I was typing!]

With the free web version you cannot edit the style to hide the edges but you might find a style that has the edges hidden.

I gather you are doing this for a job. Is that correct?

No, I am doing for my own house. Nobody will make any money if one house took 2 -3 years :joy:. Besides my computer is really basic. 70% of my time is waiting for SketchUp to respond. Even now. I just simply tried to delete the messy house. My laptop is just making the fan noise. if I will ever build another house in my life, I will definitely buy a pro to use. :+1: so that I won’t pull all my hair off.

So do as you were directed six hours ago by @dezmo. Put this model aside and take some time to learn how to use the tools correctly.

For the past years I could always find the answers online because there are so many experts made great videos. But this issue I couldn’t find anywhere that’s why I signed up for this community. Hope someone can help me instead of just telling me to learn more😅. I definitely need to which is no doubt.
