UVs get destroyed when trying to import to 3ds max

I’ve had this problem for years now across many versions of sketchup and 3ds max, so I’m guessing it’s just systemic, but most of the time when I download a sketchup model and import it into 3ds max, the textures are about 50% destroyed. As in, you can’t even fix them. The geo’s UVs are broken.

I’ve tried exporting to collada file and that’s about the same.

I will say that these days I’m having to re-save the skp file to a v8 because of the issue with importing 2013+ files into 3ds max (my version of 3ds max is 2015) so not sure if it’s been resolved in newer versions of either software.
