i am currently trying to run the “reshade” post processing fx library on sketchup…
the idea is, to use it to get some nice ambient occlusion effects (MXAO) or softshadows or anything like it into the sketchup viewport - that would be sooo ■■■■ cool
unfortunately i cant get it to run or at least i cant open the options via the home key…
i have a thread open at the reshade.me forum… as of now i have no feedback looks like thte geeks and nerds are more into gaming and less into sketchup hehe…
anyway, if some of you also find the idea of using https://reshade.me/ for sketchup intriguing im happy to welcome you
I could be wrong but it appears that ReShade works with PC games. It doesn’t mention 3D modeling software itself. I would recommend adding an extension to create the style you are looking for. I use V-Ray but I know other render engines have an AO feature. Here’s another that’s actually called ‘Ambient Occlusion.’
V-Ray ‘Clay’ render example with fog and AO settings applied.
thank you for your input… however all the beauty of reshade is that its actually just a post process injection and therefore works inside the opengl normal screen… no need for a render window or seperate views or crazy raytracing… just enhancing the normal viewport is the idea…
can it really be that no one is interested in this? mostly if not all other apps for 3d have asome sort of AO in their viewport along with softshadows…
it would be soooo perfect for sketchup to add some visual fidelity
