The ambient occlusion box is checked but is greyed out and I cannot uncheck it. See attachment.
Any solution to that?

You have to be using the new graphics engine to get AO. Change it in Preferences.
Please update your forum profile. AO is not an option in SketchUp 2022.

I went to Preferences and no avail looked all over to change to SU 2024.
Yes, I turned on the new graphics engine. It worked. It didn’t work before because I had to close SU and start again for it to work.

Once you’re in Preferences, click on Profile and scroll down. You’ll see the SketchUp version there. Update it and the other information if it’s different and scroll to the bottom to hit Save.
When you make the change to the graphics card choice SketchUp gives you a message indicating will take place when you restart SketchUp.
Pay attention to messages like that. They are usually telling you important stuff.
