Using a single line font in SketchUp for laser cutting

Hi there

I have a single line font for numbering my pieces in SketchUp so when I laser cut them I know what they are. The problem I’m having is that when I choose the font and place it, it is placing an outline of the font, not the single line font I’m after to cut down the engraving time on the laser. Does anyone know how to get a single line font in SketchUp rather than it outlining the font?

I assume you are using 3D Text for this. The tool is intended to make three dimensional text so that would require faces. I would create a scene for the view of the parts and send it to LayOut to add the single line font labels.
