I bought version 20.1.228. Can I update to current version without problems?

Check with customer support. I expect you should have no problem after you purchase the subscription license.

You have a ‘Classic’ license, and so far you have stayed using your 2020 license. You do have a 2021 license, and I have had the license system send an email to you, with that license.

So, you can’t go to 2022 without getting a subscription, but you could update to 2021 and use the license that came in the email. Go here to download 2021:

If you do get a subscription it would be worth phoning sales, to see if there are any promotions going on that would make the first one or two years be cheaper. Sales are at 303-546-1100, option 1.

Thanks Colin.

I downloaded and installed sketchup 2021. Now sketchup won’t open at all. Any ideas?

macOS may have quarantined SketchUp. If you’re sure that you copied the SketchUp 2021 folder to Applications, and you ejected the disk image before running SketchUp from the folder in Applications, try these steps:

  1. Open Terminal (it’s in Applications/Utilities).
  2. Copy this text, and paste it into the Terminal window, and press Return:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/SketchUp\ 2021/SketchUp.app

That should take SketchUp out of quarantine, and hopefully it will open ok.
