Hello, using the newest version on Windows 11, 26.2.243. Found a new bug regarding Paste in Place and then immediately attempting to Make Group while having the Paste in Place still selected using the shortcuts.
To recreate this bug, draw a rectangle. Select and Copy the rectangle. Now Paste in Place (shortcut ALT+V) and then use shortcut CTRL+G to Make Group in the same process without clicking. Unfortunately the shortcut CTRL+G to Make group does not work any longer, and you have to go to Edit>Make Group to get it to Group. Please fix this very annoying new bug.
Thank you.
EDIT - Further investigation show that I can also not UNDO with CTRL+Z after Pasting in Place. In fact it appears that after Pasting In Place, no other shortcuts that use CTRL can be used while the Pasted object is still selected.
Alt key on Windows shifts focus to the top menu bar, which blocks the next shortcuts until you click back into the workspace… try remapping Paste in Place to Shift+V. That should fix it.
So, no. Right now it is not a problem for me. I’m aware it has been a problem for others. It was a problem for me in one release of an earlier version of SketchUp but it is not in the current 2026 release. I’ve also used Alt+C to activate CleanUp3 and it works as expected.
My reply saying I have been, too was related to using Alt+V for Paste in place. I’ve used that shortcut for more than 15 years.
Thanks, but no, it’s Ctrl+G here and it works all of the other times, except Immediately after Pasting in Place. I guess I need to open yet another support ticket…
Alt key shortcuts focusing the menu bar is a bug we’re tracking, if it’s any consolation. This is related to menu bar mnemonics, where the Alt key is prematurely triggering navigation mode.
