I have been trying to install this software for 2 days. The Visual C++ Runtime Libraries was installed. The MIcrosoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 (x86 and x64) keeps installing over and over and never finishes. Any ideas on what to do?
When you installed SketchUp have you done it properly ?
Select the installerās exe icon
Right-click
Context-menu
Run as administratorā¦
Doing the installation any other way [even if you do have admin-powers] WILL cause issuesā¦
Do NOT double-click on the icon or choose to āRunā it - that is NOT the same thing.
The proper way might well install the support apps properlyā¦
PS: You might not have to uninstall everything and reinstall.
Try it and choose the āRepairā option.
But if it fails then uninstall it and install a fresh versionā¦
You can go to Microsoft download, and install these components separately.
This is page for Windows versions < 10 (8.1, 8, 7, Vista, & older)
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53840
#Then Win 7 & 8 users, be sure you have installed update KB2999226:
You can check via Control Panel > Program and Features, click View installed updates
The same goes for the Microsoft .NET 4.5.2 Framework install.
This is page for Windows versions < 10 (8.1, 8, 7, Vista, & older)

I think the Windows 10 would come with these already installed, and Windows Update should have kept them updated.
Then reboot, then try the SketchUp install again,
(being sure to right-click the installer exe and choose āRun as administratorā.)
Hi,
Finally had a chance to try your suggestion. I installed the Microsoft
Framework software separately. This is the one that was giving me
trouble. The installation happened and then when I went to open
application, it crashed.
Here is the error I received:

Any advice? I would really like to try and use this application.

@CHERYLC, okay this is a separate issue with your Intel graphics driver.
Refer to this post in another thread:
http://forums.sketchup.com/t/su-checkup-freezes-su2017-wont-start/33663/14
Basically, the OpenGL library of your Intel HD Graphics driver suite is crashing SketchUp 2017 upon startup.
From the WER report you posted:
Fault Module Name: ig7icd64.dll
Fault Module Version: 10.18.10.3355
You need to find version 10.18.10.4061
(or later) if you can.
This is the earliest version I could get to run SketchUp 2017, during my testing.
I did download this graphics driver and tried to install it. I received an error message that it was incompatible with my pc. So frustrated.
I had to uninstall the C++ Redistributabe, then install it from the MS download, then install SketchUp 2017. Seems to work OK.
Try first getting the driver(s) from your computer manufacturer. Be sure to get it for your OS version (Win 8.1?) and correct bitness (32-bit or 64-bit.)
I had a similar trouble with startup. Noticed that I had multiple versions of C++ Reditributable. Uninstalled them, updated graphics driver to 10.18.10.4061 (the latest driver for my motherboard was different but this one worked), and then installed Sketchup. Seems to work ok now. Perhaps the multiple C++ versions were conflicting. NFI.
No, normally they can exist side-by-side. Hopefully you no longer have the software that depended upon those versions of the C++ library that you uninstalled.
I was unable to get the software working. My trial is almost over and I never got to use the product. So sadā¦I really have a need for this.
If you donāt give at least a few clues as to what āis not workingā, then you are unlikely to get any helpā¦
People here want to help you, but please help them by giving then some helpā¦
@CHERYLC SU can still work if past the trial period IF the Make version (free) of SU was installed. SU Make is only the SU program itself.
The last issue you posted about was about getting a graphics driver. Did you find a driver update from your computer manufacturer?
If your computer cannot support such a driver update, search this forum for a download link to SU16 Make. That version may work on your computer.
That worked out great for same problem. Thank You DanRathbun for links.
Hello, I went through all this and the other page that linked to this to do as first steps, but sadly no success installing 2017 version:
- Going to MS to install the KB2999226 which was indeed missing did - as seems typical for MS - nothing
- their automatic installer ran forever, and didnāt even close upon clicking ācancelā (had to do this in Task Manager)
- tried again by clicking āsaveā instead of run
- same thing, ran forever āSearching for updatesā, and not even stopping upon āCancelā
- so, as always with MS, updates donāt work (for me for sure)
What I am getting when trying to install the 2017 sketchup I was prompted for: - āThumbsup.dll HRESULT 2147024770 failed to registerā
- tried to install again, it did a ārepairā, but ended with same error
- when running it anyway, comes: āProgram canāt start because api-ms-win-crt-string-I1-1-0.dll is missing from your computerā.
I guess I have to (though not bad at all!) stick with the 2016 version as I canāt get the update 2017 to work.
Thanks anyway for a great program (2016) !!
