Trying to update to new SkUP 2025 but getting a error message

Has anyone had this problem and found a solution. I downloaded SkUp 2025. When I try to open it I get an error message saying " We are experiencing technical difficulties. This device is not authorized. Please sign out and sign back in to continue or enter a classic license." I purchased a SkUp Pro Licence in March 2026 with this computer. So I’m not sure why it says this device is not authorized.

I just logged out in an attempt to try again and it has this message now. " You have exceeded your allowed activations

To continue, please sign out of another instance of SketchUp, or use the link below to sign out of all versions you have authorized in the past. Then, click the profile icon above to sign out and try again.

Manage Activations"

I’ve tried this a few times. But it keeps looping back to the same message.

If you still have previous versions of sketchup installed in your machine, open it and sign out, clicking on the upper right corner of the welcome window.

I have seen that message before, and managed to figure out what was causing it.

For me, it was because I had deauthorized all devices, but still had another version of SketchUp open in the background. When I tried to use 2025, the fact that a deauthorized 2024 was still open should have shown a message that gives more clues about what was wrong, but instead gave the technical problems message. Closing 2024, and signing out and in again to 2025, made things work.

Should I de-authorize my 2024 version? I have quit the application but it’s still on my computer. Should I un-install it?

I have done this several times. But I will try once more since it’s been a couple of hours since I attempted.

This time around signing off as described in both Colin and Francis’ suggestions worked. Not sure if I wasn’t doing it right a couple of hours ago. Or if it was a glitch. Happy to have the update in any case.

Thanks for your help!
