Trying to trim complex solid

Dear All,

Back with the Reliant Robin Orbiter (RRO) and some weirdness.

First, can someone please try to trim the wings from the body using native solid tools on this model?

If I perform the trim operation, I get a bug splat. I wonder if there is something funky with my set up or the model. All bits are solids.

I have tried using Eneroth Solid Tools, and it does not trim but does the equivalent of Intersect Faces.

Maybe the ‘Robin Solid’ model is just to screwed up to work?

I have tried all the tricks I know and some that I invented, done the searches, watched the videos, consulted my chakras and mooned my neighbors. Nothing seems to help.

Any ideas?

Thank you, and best regards all,

Here you go. I first cleaned the model of coplanar edges with CleanUp3 and softened the edges.

Dave,

Thanks. However, what I am trying to do is make a ‘hole’ in the robin that matches the ‘extension’ on the wing so I can join the two in a solid connection.

The wings have the tab, but the RRO doesn’t have the slot.

Best to you and yours,

Tom

Sorry. You wrote Trim the wings from the body so …

Hang tight.

So like this?

Yes, and your machine didn’t crash, which is great.

That means it can me done. I will keep after it.

Thanks

You’re quite welcome. No. My machine didn’t crash. Try running CleanUp3 first to merge the coplanar faces.

Will do.

Dave,

Woo hoo, success! CleanUp did the trick after I spent a few hours finding other problems.

Thanks tons! Another step closer to launch!
