Soild Trimming not working

Trying to cut a bench shape on an embankment but the trim or split solid tools are not being obedient today!
I’ve got them to show m3 volume, scaled up 1000 times, but still no luck!
If someone could explain why I can’t get this to work would be great please?

Well, you’ve got the objects more than 2218 Kilometers from the origin. That kind of thing can cause graphics problems. I moved the objects closer to the origin and Trim works just fine.

Tricky thing is I work in Infrastructure and currently working on a job that is 22km long. I chop it up into sections but these are still maybe 3km long.
I’m aware of the far from origin thing, but thought I was close enough. Get frustrating when you have to move to another file, do changes there, then bring back again. A lot of what i do is working out volumes so this just wastes time.
Chatting to others in our game, they suggest using another tool that can cope with models that span km’s. Is this on SU’s radar? to make it more useful for us and not just Vertical build.
Anyways, think I’ll start investigating which one is as good to use as SU is.

Your model is over two thousand two hundred and eighteen kilometers from the origin. That is almost Chicago, IL to Sedona, AZ. Not close enough at all.

I don’t know what the plans are but I’d seriously doubt they are thinking of dealing with distances that are more than have the width of the US.

I get that, the reason it was so big is I scaled it up 1000 times hoping that would be the fix. I then scale back down to 1:1 and copy back into the model.
I’ve tried what you suggest, scaled back down to 1:1, moved to the origin, but I still can’t make it work?
Anything else you did that I might be missing?
Maybe I need to update SU?
Or could you send that file you fixed back to me please?

That explains the distance. If you are going to scale up and down, use the same handle for both directions. You could avoid that with the Dave Method but it requires making components instead of groups.

I only moved the objects to the origin.

Since then I did fix incorrect tag usage in the model.
