Troubleshoot shape that will not select to extrude

Hi all, long-time often lurker and admirer, stuck and hoping for help…

I just drew this handle for a damper shaft:

I can’t seem to get the 2D shape defined to select to extrude it… it must have a place that is not closed. What is the best way to figure out where it is “leaking”.

The strange thing is that the original parts that make it are all selectable:

After I combined them, exploded them, and removed some of the intersecting lines and curves, I am not able to select the shape defined.

Here is the file:

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

You have an extra edge once removed the face will form.
It can be better to work with a non white background so you can see faces and holes more easily.

Following your video worked. Thank you so much!

For my learning purposes, what did the step of intersecting the selected faces achieve?

When the face was created it was one face, using intersect made the ‘holes’ separate faces. You can see in the gif the ‘holes’ are dark lines, meaning profiles, then after intersect they are lighter thin lines meaning they are cutting through the face.
