Hi. I have made some line drawings in Procreate, and I would like to find a way to import them into sketchup an turn them into solid objetcs easily. I have traced a couple of them using the free.hand tool, but it takes ages, and I figure there must be a quicker way to do this. I have also tried to import the drawings in to Illustrator, use Image Trace, and the export them to dxf or dwg and import the file into sketchup. But I cannot make it a solid so that I can use the paint-bucket tool. Has anyone got any good suggestions what to do? I enclose one of the line drawings, and one drawings where I have marked/filled the part I would like to be solid in Sketchup…I really appreciate some advice!
You can have
better succes by using the Arc Tool and the Line Tool.
If you want a solid object, you need the object to be 3D. So, after you complete the 2D drawing, you can pull it a little to give it thickness and then create a group or a component.
Thanks! I actually found a method that worked:
- fill the line drawing in Procreate so it becomes a black solid
- import it in Illustrator,
- Image trace; Black&white logo
- export as dwg
- Import into sketchup
- edit component and draw a small line in the drawing to turn it into a solid.
