I exported a DXF from CorelDraw and imported to SU. How does one make it a solid object? So, I can give it a color?

I just drew a line on the object and it filled it!

yes.
when you import dwg or dxf files, it’s importing lines (inside a component, but you can explode it)

from there, you can redraw some of the lines so that sketchup gives you faces, or you can check extensions like FaceUp that’ll automatically fill all that can be filled.
