In older versions when I selected a top view and zoomed in then selected parallel projection it kept the camera at the “elevation” of my zoom. for example if i’m looking at a multi story building, I can zoom in to see just the first floor, then when selecting parallel projection it essentially showed a floor plan of the first floor, now with the newer version 24. it zooms out to the very top, showing only the roof.

yeah, so it was something some viewed as a bug, some viewed as a feature.
best practice is to use sections. turning on a specific section gives you a specific level :
I have sections on every level I want to look at. and for each I make a scene. that way, clicking on a specific scene gives me the plan I want to see.
