hmmm I still have a problen I want the drawing to be wireframe but have the brick and tile pattern like my first image any idea?

Why do you want it to be wireframe?

A wireframe, to be exact, is a totally transparent display mode where all edges are visible and all faces invisible. Your first image shows a hidden lines view, and to get something similar in SketchUp you must set your display style to Shaded with Textures, and use materials with black and white textures instead of realistic ones.

thanks so much Dave and Anssi

'I put it on shaded with textures but I can’t find a plain pattern (white) they all have a grey shade

Go to the Shadow Settings tray. Chack the “Use sun for shading” box. Turn shadows off. Slide the Light slider to 0 and the Dark slider to 80…100. Now the view should be fully “flat” with the materials corresponding almost exactly to their thumbnails in the Materials browser.
