Hi, not a technical problem as such so wasn’t sure which category to paste? Has anyone had an issue with thumbnail pics of models not showing in SketchUp files? I have searched the web extensively but cant find a resolve. They were there on 2020 & prior? Thanks.
Try searching this forum for “2021 thumbnails missing”. You may find some solutions that will help.
I was seeing this issue and went through the following steps. This is a copy and paste of something written by TIG on the Sketchucation forum.
There is a way of forcing this, but is it’s not so simple…
Here’s how I did it myself…
You need to use Regedit - but don’t use it if you are at all unsure !
Make notes as you go in case you need to reverse any changes…Windows:
Start menu > Run > Regedit > OK
Search for the string
\ThumbsUp.dll
in your various entries’Data
settings…Edit the entries that relate to the file-paths where the
\ThumbsUp.dll
is located…They should all point towards the latest v2021 T
humbsUp.dll
, rather than any earlierThumbsUp.dll
files that might exist in earlier versions’ installed folders. They should all read something like:
C:\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2021\ThumbsUp.dll
Depending on how many versions of SketchUp you have installed it might take a while to find all of the paths and edit them…
After that ALL installed versions of SketchUp seem to make their thumbnail icons properly…
[You might need to restart your PC for the changes to be seen ?]
I did that first… people with same problem but no solution.
Thanks Dave, might be above me but will look into it!
It’s not terribly difficult. Use the Find feature in the Edit menu to find each \ThumbsUp.dll and when you find one, right click on its name and choose Modify. Then change the Value Data from whatever version it shows to 2021.
Sounds easy enough… cheers Dave.
