MY SKETCHUP FILE SUDDENLY CLOSED AND I CANNOT FIND THE FILE…I FOUND A .SKB…BUT IT SAYS…THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A SKECTHUP MODEL, I worked 2 days on it…please help me

There’s absolutely nothing we can do unless you share the files. Maybe we can do something if you do share them.

Where were you saving the files as you worked on them?

What operating system are you using? You put “2024” in your forum profile for that but it doesn’t identify an operating system.

This is Windows 11 pro…the file is 122 mb I am uploading it in drive and attaching the link…I was saving them continuously fearing this exact problem. I have to get them ready by morning… I need help

Put that in your forum profile instead of “2024”.

Where were you saving it?

Quoting your first post doesn’t help us fix anything.

OK. So there’s the backup file. Where is the .skp file?

The .skb file contains nothing but zeroes. Nothing to recover from it.

It’s no where to be found…that’s the issue…

if it’s empty, why is it 122mb?

For the third time, where were you saving the file while you were working on it?

Your profile indicates you have a SketchUp Pro subscription. If that’s the case you have unlimited storage on Trimble Connect. Were you also saving a backup copy there?

It’s 122 Mb of zeroes.

I was saving them in D drive…where I always save the files…I haven’t saved anything on Trimble connect.

Is that an internal drive? I would suggest checking it to make sure it isn’t failing.

It’s unfortunate. It would give you another option for recovering the file.

At this point I’m afraid it looks like you’ll have to start over. When you do also save to your Trimble Connect storage.

I guess, that’s just gone now. Thank you for your time and help.

Sorry I couldn’t get anything out of the file. Good luck with the rebuild. Please fix your forum profile while you are here. That information helps us help you.

I use a utility called Everything. It can instantly find files across all of your Windows drives. At times like this, you could search for part of the name of a missing file (MASTERBEDROOM for example), and anywhere that file is located will show up.

My hope is that although you don’t see the .skp where you usually save it, maybe it’s somewhere else. The copy in the auto save folder would show up. So would the copy in any cloud synced folders. With any luck one of the copies is in good condition.

You can get the utility from here:
