This is so laughable. What is the point of you even engaging in this? You’re trolling right?
Yep I make my rent as a troll. You’ve got me at least a week.
You’ve not responded to this, please… I’m eager to know how i have not bothered to test or even learn it.
People come to these forums for constructive purposes, to report issues etc. What are you even doing here?
I come here to be delighted by your witty reposts and scintillating conversation.
Could you show me where this was suggested as an option?
Which version of SketchUp is this possible?
I may be missing something from your explanation.
I’ve tried this in 2022, 2023 and the web version – it doesn’t happen as you describe.
From their description of what’s new in 2024:
“Inference to Guides – Inferencing to guides was sometimes impossible when drawing a line from an object to a guide. You can now more effectively use guides as an inference when drawing”
one (like me, for instance) could get to conclusion it’s possible to draw a (pencil) line parallel\perpendicular to a guide line. No, its not possible neither in 2024 nor earlier, and it’s not a problem for me, I don’t use guide lines extensively. That’s it.
Switching Multisample anti-aliasing to 0 solved the problem.
It is unfortunate how much relevant information is buried in a thread of what already is, and will further become, a pit of disinformation.
I’m really struggling to understand what this means from the release notes – it’ll probably be a duh moment for me when someone explains it.
What mat replacer? TT’s material replacer works just fine like always (make sure TT Lib updated)
You are not alone
… well it means that sometimes, people couldn’t inference on guides when drawing a line that started on an object.
like this.
apparently, sometimes it was impossible to grab an inference. and now it’s fixed.
That simple – didn’t know it was broken for some…
I replicated your example in 2023 just fine, maybe in some situations it didn’t work previously IDK…
Yes i experienced this lack snap to a guide sometimes. Often it seemed the orientation of the orbit in relation to whats behind the guide line and also the angle of relation of line and guide
Any idea how to migrate all my extensions from my 2023 pro to 2024 pro? I’ve found most, not all, in a directory I keep with all the RBZ files. But, I can’t find several programs that would cost me more money to rebuy. They are still active on my 2023 WHICH I AM NOT REMOVING UNTIL I AM SURE ALL IS WELL. Learned that lesson the hard way.
I just copied all of my plugins from the 2023/Plugind folder to the /2024Plugins folder.
Only a few didn’t work.
- David Penney’s FlatText.
I uninstalled it from 2024, then reinstalled it from the Extension Warehouse.
That remembered that I had bought the extension, and reinstated the licence without requiring me to buy it again.
- Similarly for Fredo6’s paid extension bundle from SketchUcation. That requires you both to update the SketchUcation plugin (which manages licensing), AND to install the latest version of the Fredo6LibFredo, and also each of the extensions included in the bundle.

well it’s ok, YOU DON’T HAVE TO

go to the plugin folder of 2023. copy the content. go to the plugin folder of 2024. paste the content.
onstartup, sketchup will tell you if some extensions have issues, then you can either look for updates, or reinstall them (not all of them, only the few).
and some will remain broken for now, waiting for their devs to update them to ruby 3.2

normally, if you update everything in your old sketchup (in your case 2022) then all the extensions there are “2024-ready”. that way, when you copy them to 2024, they are ready to use.
the only ones that won’t launch are the obsolete ones, and you might need to track the dev for updates.
The folder containing Sketchucation’s licences is not in either 2022 or 2024 folder, so it’s safe, SU should recognise you have licences.
Loving the ambient occlusion. Next stop … light sources?? (The more you give us the more we want!)
