I havent been able to use sketchup 2026 on my windows machine. I reistalled the entire OS, Right now on my machine I have just Sketchup, Web browser and 3dMouse software, nothing else, yet, since yesterday iHaven+t bee able to open a sible file.
Here are some crashing numbers that I sent, can you please @colin tell whats going on.
All of those crashes were while Scan Essentials was loading. The version you are using is more recent than the latest one in extension warehouse, and later than the one that comes with 2026.2.
I am trying to find someone on that team to look at the crashes.
While we are looking into the problem, you could go into this folder:
%AppData%\SketchUp\SketchUp 2026\SketchUp\Plugins\
and delete su_pcp.rb and the su_pcp folder. Then restart SketchUp to get the version that came with 2026.2.

I’m not working on any point cloud project at the time, I have the plugin installed but I haven’t used since reinstalling everything.
Thanks for the reply. It seems that Scan Essentials was causing the crash. Did you try to open skp projects that have been linked at some point with point clouds ? Or it crashes also with blank new projects ?
I still can´t open sketchup 2026 after deleting the file and folder that Colin asked me to do it, I rebooted my pc after deleting the files, this are the Bugsplats numbers.
No, I didn´t use scan essentials at any point on this project, It´s a new project and we got the terrain as a cad, we have only used geolocation and all the tools that I use to model houses, Mostly profile builder, toposhaper, dynamic components and other native tools.
I can open the project on sketchup 2025, few weeks ago I had similar issues but opening 2025 helped opening 2026, now it doesnt open at all
The crash still is happening with Scan Essentials.
Run the installer again, and choose the option to modify add ons (the top option). Skip past the language choices, and in the next screen uncheck Scan Essentials. Let the installer do its install.
You may need to go and delete the file and folder I had mentioned. Then open SketchUp, and it should be free of Scan Essentials, and will hopefully let you get to documents without crashing.
I did that and still getting crashes.
That did change things. The crash now happens when Sandbox Tools is loading.
You have 43 extensions. You may need to try renaming the Plugins folder, so that SketchUp starts up with only the shipped extensions, and see if that loads. If it does, one or more extensions are causing SketchUp to crash when it was getting to Scan Essentials, and now when it gets to Sandbox Tools.
Do I have to change the name of the plugins folder here?

That is the one I’m suggesting to rename, just for a test. When you open SketchUp it will recreate the folder and include the standard SketchUp extensions. If that then does let SketchUp open, you would want to go into your renamed folder, and move a few extensions at a time, into the newly created Plugins folder, and then open SketchUp again. If it suddenly doesn’t open again, one of the last few extensions you moved is likely to be the cause of the crashing.
I had a lot of bugsplats before this one I´m sending, I finally managed to open the program after several tries, I would like to know what is causing them, I´ve uninstalled a lot of extensions, Gaussian splats and scan essentials do not work, but every time it´s another plugin that fails to load, and all the plugins that fail to load are “native” plugins like dynamic components. Does anyone else has this kind of issues?
It´s unbearable sketchup on windows.
