I can’t get the tape measure tool to make a guide line. If I click on the beginning of a line and enter a dim. it does not leave a point. If I measure off of a line (perpendicular to it) it does not leave a guide line.

The one with the dashes and + sign.
Then, as Box suggests, you probably have Guides turned off in the View menu.
I don’t get it. The “guides” was checked . I unchecked it and then rechecked it and now it works. Thanks
Probably the phase of the moon coupled with where you were holding your tongue while trying to place the guideline.
