So i guess about 4 to 5 years?
This should not be an issue knowing i have an even older laptop at home that runs sketchup up to 24 thusfar without mayor issues, but have to admit i mostly use su17 or sup22 at home since those are the latest stable versions for me.
The worst case scenario would be 2017. But I know for a fact that I was still working with my old workstation when we moved to this new office, so between 2019 and 2021 would be correct.
Still a byte weird since the laptop is years older then the desktop workstation.
At least my sup22 does not have this issue (knocks on wood)
Anywhoe, back to the drawing board
this also happens to me. i feel like it happens after using large skp models and other programs over a period of time. once i restart it works again. I only use new engine. 4080 super/ 64 gb ram/ i9. its def a bug. i know of other people not on the forum who also have this issue.
I’m gonna be a bit off topic there, but… tell them to come and report it.
if you click on your icon top right, then profile, then invite, you can send them a link inviting them to the forum.
a bug that doesn’t get reported doesn’t exist. a bug that gets reported by a couple of persons is a minor bug, likely hardware or human error. a bug that is reported by a lot of people is a critical bug.
In this/my case I modeled at a minimum distance of 0 meters and a maximum distance of 109 meters from the origin. I think the animated gif was taken somewhere in between.
I usually start modeling in the file where everything is displayed [A], but for BOI (buildings of interest) I convert them to components, save them as separate files [B], and edit them separately so that I can reload the final result into the large file [A].
At the office my monitors are set to 2560x1440 (as recommended)
Could you make a little file where it has happened and share it here? I’m curious as to whether its stays as an error in the file or if it is happening only locally.
Over the years it has often been noted that the Quadro cards, while more expensive, have been ‘less good’ and more problematic than the more gaming oriented Nvidia cards.
Quadros are expensive for the same performance as gaming cards and while you are using applications that have no specialized Quadro drivers made for them (I think Solidworks and Catia used to have those) there is no actual benefit. I remember a couple of older incidents where a bug that affected GeForce drivers didn’t appear in the Quadro ones. My employers insist on buying the somewhat overpriced “workstation” laptops for their employees. It seems to be the standard for all bigger firms in the field.
scale 1:1 in mm/m and as mentioned at a distance of 0 up to max 106 meters from origin. Could be crappy geometries from an imported 3d cad file i received as guidance. I already had cleaned by removing most interior parts that are not of our interest. Haven’t had this issue, or a lot less, with SUP22.
You are working at 106 m from origin, but is it possible there is geometry or elements or hidden geometry very far from the origin embedded in the .dwg? This would account for the behavior you see? I don’t doubt you are having this expierence but am curious to find a reason as it’s not something commonly seen.
I’ve found weird snapping issues - corners seemingly not snapping more than anything else.
I’m glad someone has created a thread that its not just me.
It doesn’t seem consistent is the thing that rises suspicion …sometimes I’m halfway through modeling a garden and then seemingly all of a sudden it stops snapping.
Sometimes I can find a reason (such as stated above but others) but sometimes only a restart seems to fix it.
I’m on all AMD with a 5900x and a 6800.
Whilst I love the new graphics engine speed I do think there’s some oddities or (differences at least) that have arrived with it too, especially with snapping.
