SU 2025 skp backupfiles no longer marked as backup files

Since SU 2025 I find in Folders, that the skp backup file is no longer marked as a backupfile, and likewise it do not have a different icon. The only difference beteen the backup and the real file are a different timestamp.

Why is that ? and the same icon allso makes it easy by fault to choose the backupfile for next update - so you might not work on the latest version !

AND I think this might have to do with my layout issue here Lay out can not see new skp date on file in preferences

What do you mean? The SketchUp backup files have the exact same filename as the working file but with the extension .skb instead of .skp. Are you not seeing any .skb backup files? The only reports I’ve seen in which the .skb files are not created is when that feature has been disabled by the user or when they are saving to an external drive or the cloud.

On my computer the .skb files do have a different icon than the .skp files.

You are right - file extension is still different - but my icons are not.

This means that you have assigned the skb file yourself to open with Sketchup.

A trick to remove accosiation:
Create any text file with Notepad and rename it to eg. “xy.exe” and associate to this ‘program’ - thru right-click on the .skb file, “Open with” “Choose an app on your pc..” and navigate to “xy.exe” created above and choose that. Then delete “xy.exe”, and the association will be removed. You may need to restart your computer to vanish out the icons for .skb
