Styles have disappeared

I just upgraded from Sketchup 23 to Sketchup 24 and the Styles have disappeared. The folder is there, but it’s empty. Any suggestions for restoring the Styles?

installing a major version like 24 makes a new install.

go check your 23 style folder, and copy them to 24 style folder. same for templates, materials and extensions.

Thank you, I tried that and they’ve disappeared from the 23 style folder.

are you sure they used to be there ? didn’t you save them somewhere else, and then in 23’s style panel, imported the folder as a collection ?

doing this won’t move them to the basic folder, they’ll remain where they are in your disc.

I’ve used the file manager to search for all the folders 2023 and 2024 named “styles” and all of those that apply to Sketchup are empty.

What is the folder path when you go to Window>preferences>files in the 2023 version of SketchUp?

Did you use the Run as Admin installation method?
If not, or you don’t remember, close sketchup and layout, find the installer.exe, probably in your downloads folder, select it, right click and choose Run as Administrator, follow the prompts and choose Repair when given the option, follow the prompts. Reboot your PC for good measure and Open sketchup.

It should be noted that the default folder for Shipped styles is not generally the same as the File location path for your custom styles.
The default will be
C:\ProgramData\SketchUp\SketchUp 2024\SketchUp\Styles
But the ‘user’ one will be
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2024\SketchUp\Styles

Thanks everyone. Never did find the Styles. I removed Sketchup 24 and reinstalled with Run as Administrator and everything showed up normally including Styles.

Probably just repairing the installation using Run as administrator would have sorted it out.
