every time i go to use my style construction 1 for example it creates a new ,construction 6
Are you editing and updating the style after selecting it. If so, if you select it again from your collection instead of the In Model styles, SketchUp would append a new number to the style because there’s already a style with the previous name.

I have a scene with a style set ,now I wish to change the style to a style I have preset in my Favorites ,How, with out creating a new number style, add
Change the name of the existing style in your model and update it. Then select the style from your collection. Then update the scene or scenes that used the previous style. Don’t forget to purge unused styles from the model.
