I have an STL file that immediately fails to import. I have tried changing to meters as well as merging coplanar faces. Any other ideas?

It seems the .stl is corrupted. Where did it come from? What software was used to create it?

possibly.
sketchup only has an importer, so any issue with the structure of the file might result in a failure.
a dedicated tool like you used can have different processes to read the stl.
it opens in meshlab (a free software, quite useful)
from there I exported as a collada. and it imports fine in SU.
youâll have to adjust the scale though, because I didnât

meshlab. I still havenât learned to properly use it, but I often use it as a simple viewer, or to do what I just did
