Startup Show the last saved model

Whenever I open Sketchup, I’d like to open the last saved model. Is it possible? Thanks

Sketchup will show you your save SU files on startup as thumbnails

I put Sketchup in the Windows StartUp apps and every time I start Windows, Sketchup appears (but only the Welcome to SketchUp window), but I would like to continue my previous work without selecting models from the Sketchup Startup thumbnails

you can’t.

it will show you the last few models, and you’ll have to click on the last one (the one you want to continue)

Thanks

(you can also disable the startup screen, but it won’t open the last model. you’ll have to go in the menu to do that)

I tried that too, but it doesn’t work for me. I was thinking there might be a plugin for something like that.

Why make it hard? Just double click on the file you want to open.

I turn my computer on&off multiple times a day. The last model I worked on isn’t always displayed in the SketchUp startup window. It would be more convenient for me if SketchUp functioned like the Chrome browser, which automatically opens the last viewed pages.

I’m talking about just double clicking on the model file you want to open. That will open SketchUp to the model directly.

Maybe you can make windows open a file automatically on startup…
You would have to change that every time you start a new model though…
Seems like a lot of work to save a few mouse-clicks…

, I thought about that, it makes my life more complicated. It seems like an easy solution, but for now, I’ll keep opening the file from the saved folder

You should be able to open a file from the jump list if you have a shortcut for Sketchup on your task bar.
How to enable:

To enable the Windows Jump List, go to your Windows Settings, navigate to “Personalization” > “Start”, and then ensure the toggle switch next to “Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar” is turned on; this will allow you to access recently used files by right-clicking on a program icon in the taskba

Thanks for the tip. This option is already set to “On” by default. I’ll keep an eye on it to see if it actually displays the latest version

I am a Mac user and not sure if this works with Windows but this is how I do it.

  1. Open SU.
  2. Select File in the menu bar.
  3. Select Open recent.
  4. Open the model I want…

In Windows, there is no such option, but that’s ok, I’ll continue to open the file from the saved folder. This is not the biggest drawback Sketchup has

I start SketchUp from my Windows Taskbar. A right-click on the icon shows the most recent 10 files worked upon. I choose the one I want to open from that list (Highest up is the most recent.

That’s a good tip. Thanks. I tried this option too, but like the SU startup screen, there are cases when it doesn’t show me the last saved file. To make sure, I open the folder where it is saved.
Although the topic is how to open the last saved file automatically when I start Windows, it seems impossible.
