Is there a way to start a project over from the beginning besides closing it without saving and starting a new file ?
During my many errors in learning sometimes I just want to wipe the slate clean and I have noticed that just deleting items can sometimes leave me with undesirable left over geometry and using the undo key option isn’t always practical if Im going back through a lot of changes.

You should be able to select all and delete it. Also go to Window>Model Info>Statistics and Purge Unused. That should get rid of everything after you’ve deleted all the contents in the model space. Before deleting, make sure you expose hidden geometry with View>Hidden Geometry.

You can also go File/New
This is the same as closing without saving but without the long startup time.
