I am currently working on optimizing and organizing the components and models used at the company i work at.
Specifically, I need help with renaming and categorizing these components effectively. At the moment, I have a document approximately 100 MB in size, containing numerous low-poly furniture models. Many of these items have unconventional or unclear names that require sorting and standardization.
My main question is: is there a feature, plugin or tool available that allows me to display all components along with their names and images to streamline the renaming and organization process?
I would gladly buy a dictionary of furniture and woodworking parts, if one exists. It’s a language of its own and not only in English. I know one woodworker who contributes to Fine Woodworking Magazine once mentioned that he was working on such a dictionary. His last name is Miller, but I haven’t heard of it being published.
I’m unable to share the one I’m currently working on, but I recommend you trying the 5D+ library. It offers a wide range of quality furniture models and can also be used to organize the models you already have.
Thank you for your response. I have already considered using the 5D+ Auto Tag feature, but I feel it might require just as much effort as doing the work manually—though I could be mistaken.
I was not familiar with the Outliner, but it might like be useful.
I will definitely explore both options to determine if they can help streamline the process.
I used PowerToys to add the company name to all the components, and it worked wonderfully. However, I’ve encountered a new issue.
Do you know if it’s possible to replace the old components folder with the new one containing the updated names? If this is achievable, I could go on my Christmas leave without any concerns.
