Solid tools trim subtract won't work on a specific component

Here’s my rotate down after trimming the end. The steps are:

  • select the metal
  • activate the rotate tool
  • hover over the end of the plywood to get a rotate in red
  • hold down shift while clicking the front end corner of the metal
  • pan and zoom to back corner of the metal and click there
  • move the cursor down until you get a snap to the corner of the plywood

Hi all
I finally solved my trim problem.
If you open the model and change your view where you are looking at the back of the shed i.e. opposite the door opening.
Select the piece of metal on the plywood decking.
You will see the edge of the metal in the face of the rectangular solid.
if you edit the rectangular solid with the push pull and pull tool and pull the face of the rectangular solid so you can no longer see the metal in the face of the rectangular solid then Trim operation works as advertised…I’m assuming because that is the way it is advertised/intended to work.
Subtract seems to work now too.
Doooh! I can’t believe it took me that long to see that one.
Thanks to everyone for all the help.
Hope fully this posting will save some poor dope like me some time later on.

Hi Shep
Adjusting the model info Units to a finer resolution solved my rotate troubles…this still seems harder than it ought to be though.
Also my tactical approach was wrong.
I kept pasting in a new copy of the metal and then I was rotating each new piece.
Once you have a properly rotated piece just make copies of it and place them where you need them…the copies are already rotated…Duuuh!
A mighty thanks to you and everyone else here for their help.
