Solid Modeling Tools - What's the Point?

What is the purpose of the Solid Modeling Tools when SketchUp is a surfaces modeling program. Does sketch up offer natively offer Union, Intersection and Subtraction tools for 3D objects that are defined with surfaces?

Specifically I am trying to combine two 3D objects (defined by surfaces) but, remove the interior intersecting surfaces that are nolonger needed to define the outer extremities of the final combined 3D object.

The Solid tools in SketchUp work with groups or components that already count as SketchUp solids. In a SketchUp solid every edge exists between two faces, not more or less.

Share your .skp file so we can see exactly what you are trying to do. The Solid Tools are natively supplied in the desktop and Go versions of SketchUp.

My bad. One of my 3D objects had some issues that sold inspector repaired, then I was able to union my two 3D objects.
