Sketchup viewer is near useless

The viewer is limited. It is a viewer. It is in the name of the software.

You came here to rant, not ask how to solve your problem.

Trimble has Trimble Connect for professionals to do that.

Exactly, I came to rant, you are right.

Because as I said, measurement is artificially limited.sad about that.
As I say it seems not possible to rant.

But as I’ve found something else, everything is fine.

ranting is not a one way street. you can’t expect to dish on something without backlash.

It is completely possible to rant, proof is in this pudding, in both your and our messages. we’re just ranting about different things I guess.

will do it, but as Ateliermab wrote, this piece of software is probably dead.

The only thing I rant about is this limitation.
I just think a viewer is a viewer is not an explanation against this artificial limitation.

the forum is a good place to express your feelings. I am fully aware that this may shock regular users of this software.
But believe me, when you’re looking for a solution and you don’t have a lot of time, it’s irritating and you can feel it in my complaints.

So I completely understand the responses I’ve had, they’re normal.

And ultimately, I found this forum very active. That a good thing for user and me if I need help again.

If you don’t have a lot of time it would make more sense to just ask for a solution to your problem in the first place, instead of rant…
You likely would have had a suitable anwer sooner.
I think that is what people here are trying to tell you. Be nice, ask questions and you will be served!

I understand what you mean.

I know it’s not pleasant to hear your favourite programme criticised, but what I’m saying is a reality.
It appears that I’m not the first and probably not the last to complain about this.

It’s just a shame.
And in fact Trimble connect only partially solves the problem.
The interface is completely different.

Well, maybe one day I’ll decide to pay to read files, why not.

I don’t think any of the people who have responded use the SketchUp Viewer. I don’t, so I don’t care whether it has some feature or not. Trimble has decided that some features require a subscription. It’s nothing users can do anything about so pouring venom on users is of no help.

At no point did I spill venom on any user.
Not on you, not on anyone.

I understand that we do not have no right to complain but ask help.
Some people probably sell hours of Sketchup training. Others have their reasons.

But this is a public forum. So you have to accept these kinds of opinions.

If I’ve been disrespectful, you can ban me. I’ll understand that.

In any case, I think it’s good that the forum is also a place where you can complain about the limits of the application.
Maybe that won’t change anything. But if nobody says anything, then nothing will ever change.

In the end, I found the exchanges rather constructive.
As I said, I haven’t criticised anyone here other than the famous limitations of the viewer.
